This is the original. Brighton’s Royal Pavilion and the i360 meet beneath a dramatic eclipse in Pulling Time. Wheels, cables and flashes of gold pull two very different landmarks into the same strange, energetic scene. I wanted the painting to feel as though the city’s past and present were moving together, with the deep shadows giving all that blue and orange somewhere to shine.
